I have text writen in one that needs to be copied and pasted into the other. I'm not trying to copy-paste images or pixels or special effects. I have no plug-ins running, no actions, no extras of any sort.
For the record, I'm using the most updated version of photoshop (this was happeneing on the last few versions as well), on a Windows computer that's all up-to-date, and all my other Adobe products are up-to-date.
When the main document called these newly regenerated pdf files, it fixed the issue. The title of this may sound dumb, but my copy-paste features in Photoshop are weirdly hobbled. Essentially, I've regenerated each individual pdf files this way. What I did was that when the pdf files came in, and before the PlanetPress document called them, I've used a Create PDF with another PlanetPress document that used PDF Emulation, and simply loaded the pdf as data and displayed it on the page. In the latest case of garbled characters that I've encountered, it was a PlanetPress document that was taking multiple pdf as external resources, and for some reasons, at some point, some of them came out with all the text completely garbled. So a non-Adobe pdf could potentially cause issues and unexpected behaviors.Īgain, these are just based on my own observations and experiences, and should not be taken as official requirements for pdf files.
Some pdf files aren't built with any Adobe technology, and as I've mentionned, we use Adobe libraries in our software. These aren't handled by PlanetPress and could be a source of issues. Try to avoid having special features, such as bookmarks, special fields, etc. Make sure the pdf doesn't have any security settings or restrictions. (having the fonts used in your pdf installed on the machine may help too) Try to have the fonts fully embedded, instead of just partially embedded. In fact, pdf files of version above 1.7 are not officiallu supported by PlanetPress.) (we use a certain version of the Adobe libraries that isn't necessarily the latest, so pdf files generated with the latest libraries could potentially have issues. If the version of pdf is too recent, or too low, it might cause issues. Try to use pdf files of versions 1.4 to 1.7. Here's some tips regarding pdf that might help, if you have any control over it(this is based on my own observations, and isn't anything official): There might not be anything "wrong" per se, it's a combination of settings on both the pdf and PlanetPress that results in this. I cannot tell you exactly what is wrong in your pdf. Often, the workaround is to regenerate the pdf file in a different way, just so we have something different to work with.
While PlanetPress can handle most pdf files without issues, it happens that there are certain pdf files that don,t work, due to how they're built, in combination with how PlanetPress handles them. It's a combination of the way the pdf is built + how PlanetPress needs to reprocess pdf files using it's own libraries and job settings. I have seen similar issues in some of my own projects, and it's often quite difficult to pinpoint the exact cause of it.
